Summer Theatre & Arts Program for Newcomer Youth

Drama Classes for All Ages
Insight at every stage

Through a strong sense of community, you can feel safe to engage in transformative creative experiences that foster healing and growth. During these classes, the skill and social-emotional development of participants are assessed.

Note: No previous experience in the Arts is necessary.

Drama Class
(Ages 5-10)

Dates: February 5, 2022 - April 9, 2022
Time: Saturdays 11 A.M.- 1:00 P.M.
20 hours of instruction.
Limited to 8 spots.

Together, Ashley and participants create a safe atmosphere where they are able to ignite their imagination, express their creativity, and explore their individuality through introductory drama and theatre techniques to foster team building and group cohesion.

By the end of the season, participants will:

  • Learn introductory drama skills
  • Rehearse a theatrical performance
  • Perform a short theatrical performance for friends and family the skills they have learned! 
  • Create new crafts every week!
  • Build positive relationships and friendships
  • Build their self-esteem within a group setting 

Early bird special until December 19: $320 + HST
Registration fee: $350 + HST
Sibling/referral special: 10% off

Acting Class
(Ages 13-17)

Dates: February 5, 2022 - April 9, 2022
No classes Family Day weekend. 
Time: Saturdays 1:30 P.M.- 3:30 P.M.
20 hours of instruction.
Limited to 8 spots.

Together, Ashley and participants create a safe atmosphere where they are able to ignite their imagination, express their creativity, and explore their individuality through introductory acting and theatre techniques to fosters team building and group cohesion.

By the end of the season, participants will:

  • Learn introductory improv and acting skills
  • Conduct character analysis and scene studies
  • Rehearse a monologue and a scene
  • Perform a short theatrical performance for friends and families
  • Build positive relationships and friendships
  • Build self-esteem within a group setting

Drama for Social & Presentation Skills
Virtual Private Classes

Starting from January to March
1 hour 30 minute weekly sessions.

15 hours of instruction in total.
Limited availability.

Throughout the sessions, Ashley and participants focus on overcoming social inhibitions and communication challenges through drama and acting exercises. This class is geared towards those experiencing shyness and/or stage fright, as those learning English.

By the end of the season, participants will:

  • Learn introductory improvisation and acting skills
  • Develop relaxation, body control, and vocal techniques
  • Conduct character analysis and scene studies
  • Workshop monologues and scenes
  • Build self-esteem and self-confidence

Registration fee: $225 + HST

Meet Ashley

Ashley (she/her) is a Toronto-based Teaching Artist providing transformative experiences through drama and theatre. Ashley designs and facilitates drama-based programs focused on social emotional development while incorporating expressive art modalities like drama, movement, music, and poetry.
